In today's world, sustainability is more than just a buzzword
It's a commitment to future generations. At Prenax, we believe that integrating sustainability into every facet of our operations not only benefits the planet but also enhances our value as a trusted supplier.
Founded in Sweden in 1993, Prenax has always embraced the progressive stance on environmental and social issues prevalent in the Nordic region. While sustainability has been a natural part of our company since the beginning, it wasn't always central to our identity. This changed in 2021 when we began actively aligning our operations with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and adopting a comprehensive approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions.
Our efforts have not only established a robust structure and commitment to sustainability but also strengthened our connection with employees. This unexpected outcome has been a pleasant surprise. In 2022, we launched our Green Day concept as an annual global event, and the engagement from our employees has been remarkable. Together, we have shaped a new corporate identity that aligns with our core values.
While we maintain a systematic, strategic approach, working from a bottom-up perspective yields greater, more engaging, and impactful results. It's not about grand gestures; it's about the little things in everyday life.
Curiosity is another positive side effect, leading to numerous actionable plans from the workshops our employees conducted. It also raises questions related to individual job contexts. One of my colleagues in the business development department asked how this new approach could support their efforts.
"It depends on the customer and the guiding values of their organization," I explained. "Today, there is a growing demand from funding parties and investors for sustainable value chains. It's truly about aligning with shared values."
While we are often considered a tail spend supplier, this role also presents unique opportunities from a sustainability perspective. By reducing paper transactions and enhancing knowledge distribution, we significantly lower the carbon footprint. Without a supplier like Prenax, the environmental impact would be much greater.
Larger organizations with active sustainability strategies have taken significant steps forward. Many have prioritized sustainable procurement, making climate considerations a key factor in selecting their suppliers and partners. This growing emphasis on sustainability has sparked interest in collaborating with companies like Prenax.
From my perspective, this is incredibly exciting. It validates the importance of our actions and shows that our efforts are valued by our customers. Sustainability is not just about meeting targets; it's about creating value networks, sharing ideas and best practices, and driving collective change.
Achieving our mutual goals requires the collaboration of many. At Prenax, we have received numerous customer requests for details on our Ecovadis score, emission data, social KPIs, and more. These inquiries reflect the growing importance of transparency and accountability in sustainability.
We recently held a workshop with some of our customers, who are admittedly ahead of us in their sustainability efforts. It was enlightening to learn that every organization faces its own struggles and challenges, especially with new regulatory frameworks like the CSRD. This shared experience underscores the need for open dialogue and cooperation to navigate the complexities of sustainability together.
Our journey has shown that sustainability is a collective effort. The remarkable engagement from our employees during our Green Day events and the actionable plans from our workshops are testaments to the power of collaboration. We believe that by working together, we can achieve our mutual goals and create a positive impact.
